Job summary

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital is seeking a Rehab Counselor C to provide leadership, supervise staff, and develop and deliver rehabilitation programs. You will collaborate with the team to assess patient needs and adjust services accordingly, ensuring adherence to standards.

The role is full-time, Sundays and weekday shifts, with duties including group and individual therapy, documentation, and ongoing staff training to support recovery

Qualifications

• Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and counseling techniques.
• Understanding of rehabilitation services, motivation techniques, and trends.
• Ability to write general reports and adapt to change in a clinical setting.
• Ability to work with diverse populations; maintain composure under stress.
• Data gathering, reporting, and resolving disputes or grievances.
• Valid MA Driver’s License and ability to drive a 15-passenger van.

Responsibilities

• Provide program leadership and supervise staff to meet standards.
• Oversee Rehab Counselor A/B and ensure therapy meets patient needs.
• Deliver creative, evidence-based groups and individual treatments.
• Lead psychoeducational, vocational, and recreational groups.
• Monitor group effectiveness and patient recovery progress.
• Train staff in evidence-based rehabilitation approaches.
• Support ADL and functional skill performance in patients.
• Participate in PI projects; collect data and develop action plans.
• Attend rehab staff meetings and hospital committees; communicate goals.
• Provide feedback on patient progress and risk issues; document in EMR.
• Pursue ongoing education to maintain competencies.
