Job summary

Midwest Health in Topeka, KS is seeking a Physical Therapist to assess residents, develop rehabilitation plans and teach exercises to strengthen or stretch muscles and relieve pain, while providing encouragement and support.

You will supervise PTAs and aides, maintain daily treatment notes for billing and charting, and coordinate with physicians and the rehab team to ensure a comprehensive, person-centered care plan.

Qualifications

• Must meet recognized standards of the professional education and qualifications.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
• Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and hostile people.

Responsibilities

• Consult with residents and develop rehabilitation plan.
• Teach exercises to strengthen or stretch muscles and alleviate pain.
• Provide supportive and encouraging words to residents.
• Comply with the Facility's policies and procedures.
• Supervise and train PTAs and PT Aides.
• Evaluate the resident within one business day of the written referral.
• Plan, administer and supervise the PTA in a treatment plan and communicate with the referring physician.
• Maintain an accurate daily record of treatments for billing and charting.
• Provide in-service education to facility staff.
• Follow established policies and procedures and achieve efficiency in PT services.
