Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Senior Counsel- Regulatory to provide strategic legal guidance on complex regulatory matters for NiSource and its operating companies. You will combine deep regulatory knowledge with practical business insight and lead cross-functional teams on matters before state and federal commissions.

The role requires managing regulatory affairs, supervising outside counsel, drafting legal documents, and traveling to commission hearings.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state; bar admission preferred.
• Experience handling independent case responsibilities.
• Strong integrity, ethics, and business acumen.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive regulatory legal advice to NiSource and its operating companies.
• Manage complex regulatory matters before the Maryland PSC, Virginia SCC, Pennsylvania PUC, and FERC.
• Travel to regulatory bodies including Baltimore, Richmond, Harrisburg, and Washington, DC as needed.
• Retain and supervise outside counsel on select matters.
• Anticipate internal/external issues and provide applicable legal guidance.
• Review and revise legal documents; negotiate with external parties.
• Train clients on legal issues and communicate status updates.
