Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Senior Counsel-Regulatory to provide legal advice on complex regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions. The role emphasizes business-minded counsel, collaboration with internal clients, and oversight of outside counsel.

The position supports a hybrid work arrangement (3 days in office) and may be based in Washington DC, Harrisburg, PA, or Canonsburg, PA, with a preference for DC. Travel to regulatory bodies is required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.
• Experience with independent case handling responsibility.
• Proven integrity and business ethics.
• Ability to operate autonomously and balance legal issues with business goals.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Resolves legal issues and provides proactive, business-savvy counsel.
• Manages complex regulatory matters before state and federal agencies.
• Travel to regulatory bodies as required (Baltimore, Richmond, Harrisburg, Washington, DC).
• Retains and supervises outside counsel on select matters.
• Review and revise legal documents; negotiate contractual issues.
• Provide training and status updates to clients.
