NiSource is seeking a Senior Counsel-Regulatory Hybrid to provide legal advice on complex regulatory matters across state public utilities commissions and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The role combines legal expertise with business acumen and requires autonomous, proactive counsel within a collaborative team.
Based in Washington DC, Harrisburg, PA or Canonsburg, PA with a preference for DC, the position involves regular travel to commissions and occasional travel to others.
This position can be based in either our Washington DC, Harrisburg, PA or Canonsburg, PA office locations. (Preference for Washington DC)
Provides legal advice to NiSource and its operating companies on complex regulatory matters. Combines knowledge of one or more legal specialties with sound business acumen, and knowledge of business goals and objectives. Has significant experience and subject matter expertise.
Resolves legal issues and provides proactive, business-savvy legal advice and counsel.
Manages complex regulatory matters before the Maryland Public Service Commission, the Virginia State Corporation Commission, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Regular travel to the Maryland Public Service Commission (Baltimore, MD) and occasional travel to the Virginia State Corporation Commission (Richmond, VA), Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (Harrisburg, PA), and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Washington, DC).
Retains and supervises/manages outside counsel on select matters.
Anticipates internal/external business and regulatory issues and provides applicable legal advice.
Reviews and revises legal documents.
Negotiates with outside parties on contractual issues and legal disputes.
Assists in training clients on legal issues.
Communicates with clients regarding status updates.
Other duties as assigned.
