Job summary

NiSource Inc. is seeking a Senior Counsel-Regulatory to provide expert legal guidance on complex regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions, including Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

This hybrid role requires strong business acumen, leadership, and the ability to manage outside counsel. Ideal candidates will hold a Juris Doctor with experience handling independent cases, navigating state and federal laws, and delivering timely, well-reasoned

Qualifications

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
Experience with independent case handling responsibility.

Responsibilities

Resolves legal issues and provides proactive, business-savvy legal advice and counsel.
Manages complex regulatory matters before state PSCs/commissions and FERC.
Attends regulatory hearings across multiple jurisdictions and coordinates travel between offices.
Retains and supervises outside counsel on select matters.
Anticipates internal/external business and regulatory issues and provides applicable legal advice.
Reviews and revises legal documents and agreements.
Negotiates with outside parties on contractual issues and disputes.
Assists in training clients on legal issues and provides status updates to clients.
