Job summary

The State of New Hampshire's Public Utilities Commission invites applications for a full-time Senior Advisor (Attorney). The role provides direct exposure to regulatory decision-making and an opportunity to apply professional legal expertise in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include advising on complex dockets, drafting orders, and coordinating with federal/state agencies and market participants.

Qualifications

  • Education: An LL.B. or J.D. from a recognized law school.
  • Experience: At least five (5) years of relevant legal experience, preferably in utility, energy, or administrative law.
  • License/Certification: Admitted to practice law in New Hampshire and in active status with NH Bar.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal counsel on complex utility dockets and regulatory proceedings.
  • Advise Commissioners on interpretation of statutes, regulations, and tariffs.
  • Prepare memoranda, proposed orders, and adjudicative materials for Commissioners.
  • Work with state, federal, and ISO/RTO staff and review legislation and regulations.
  • Plan and execute work independently with professional judgment.
