Job summary

Maryland Public Service Commission’s Office of General Counsel is seeking a full-time Attorney to provide legal and policy advice on electric, gas, transportation, and other regulated industries.

The successful candidate will join a professional team, review filings, draft orders, and represent the Commission in state and federal proceedings. Maryland Bar admission and JD are required, with at least three years in energy regulation preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Be admitted to the Maryland Bar and eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Excellent writing, verbal, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analysis, advice and support to the Commission on matters before it and regulatory agencies.
  • Review, evaluate and analyze applications, documents, testimony and pleadings submitted to the Commission.
  • Prepare draft Commission orders and provide oral and written briefings.
  • Litigate cases in state and federal courts, including appeals of Commission orders.
