Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Senior Counsel-Regulatory to provide complex regulatory legal advice across Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Federal energy contexts. The role involves advising on policy, coordinating with regulators, and guiding business decisions while balancing compliance and strategy.

The position requires a Juris Doctor, strong counseling and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage outside counsel. Some travel and a hybrid work arrangement are involved.

Responsibilities

• Resolves legal issues and provides proactive, business-savvy legal advice and counsel.
• Manages complex regulatory matters before multiple state and federal commissions.
• Regular travel to various commissions and occasional travel to others.
• Retains and supervises outside counsel on select matters.
• Anticipates issues and provides applicable legal advice.
• Reviews and revises legal documents.
• Negotiates with outside parties on contractual issues and disputes.
• Assists in training clients on legal issues.
• Communicates with clients regarding status updates.
