Job summary

Playworks is seeking a Development Director to lead the regional fundraising strategy and donor cultivation across Northern California, based in the Bay Area with in-person site visits and Oakland/San Francisco offices. Direct reporting to the Executive Director.

You will manage a portfolio of major donors and foundations, drive six- and seven-figure gifts, and oversee external relations to elevate Playworks’ brand and mission.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in development or related field with increasing responsibility.
• Three+ years of team leadership or management experience.
• Proven track record in driving fundraising in the SF Bay Area.
• Ability to read, interpret, and present financial reports to donors.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven success achieving aggressive fundraising goals.

Responsibilities

• Create and drive overarching fundraising strategy and revenue plans for the region.
• Maintain donor relationships and renewals; upgrade opportunities.
• Grow revenue across streams and meet regional goals (including government funding where applicable).
• Cultivate high-level relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.
• Lead, develop, and mobilize the regional fundraising team and advisory boards.
• Provide strategic direction to Executive Director and ensure regional success against goals.
