Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Senior Refrigeration Systems Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and lifecycle management of facility and operational refrigeration systems across multiple sites. This role provides technical leadership in automation, controls, mechanical and electrical systems to improve reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5 years of industrial refrigeration or cold chain experience.
• Expertise in ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems, HVAC/mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
• Experience with multi-site operations and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, optimization, and lifecycle management of facility and operational systems.
• Provide advanced technical expertise for infrastructure, automation, controls, mechanical, electrical systems.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, IT, and external vendors for system improvements.
• Monitor performance, analyze trends, and improve uptime, reliability, capacity, and efficiency.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Develop standards, documentation, and procedures for consistency and compliance.
• Support capital projects, equipment installations, and facility upgrades.
• Evaluate modernization strategies and emerging technologies.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance for system design and operation.
• Collaborate with leadership on long-range infrastructure planning and budgeting.
• Mentor engineering, maintenance, and operational teams; coordinate external contractors.
• Provide 24/7 escalation support across region and HQ.
• Assist with project prioritization, budgeting, vendor selection, commissioning, and handoff.
• Evaluate refrigeration technologies and energy reduction opportunities.
