Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Senior Refrigeration Systems Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and lifecycle management of facility and operational refrigeration systems across multiple sites. The role requires advanced technical leadership in ammonia and Freon refrigeration, HVAC, automation, and integrated systems.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive reliability, energy efficiency, cost optimization, and technology adoption.

Qualifications

5 years of industrial refrigeration or cold chain engineering experience.
Experience with ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems, HVAC/mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance programs.
Experience managing multi-site operations and technical teams.
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, PSM, IIAR, energy efficiency and automation.
Experience with CMMS systems, maintenance planning, and capital project execution.
This role requires approximately >40% travel during initial years, with potential for reduced travel later.

Responsibilities

Lead design, implementation, optimization, and lifecycle management of facility and operational systems.
Provide advanced technical expertise for infrastructure, automation, controls, mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems.
Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, IT, EHS, and external vendors for improvements and initiatives.
Monitor system performance, analyze trends, and develop solutions to improve uptime and efficiency.
Lead root cause analysis for system failures and implement corrective actions.
Develop and maintain engineering standards, procedures, and specifications for consistency and compliance.
Support capital projects, equipment installations, upgrades, and startups.
Evaluate and recommend modernization strategies and emerging technologies.
Ensure safety, environmental, regulatory compliance for system design and operation.
Collaborate with leadership on long-range infrastructure and capital planning.
