Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a focused Sorter II-2 in Springfield, MO. The role oversees and performs recycling center operations, including sorting, quality control, and safety compliance, reporting to an Operations Supervisor or Manager.

Responsibilities include material sorting, line maintenance, safety adherence, and assisting maintenance staff. Prior experience in a recycling environment is preferred; training will be provided for on-site equipment and procedures.

Qualifications

• Trained in Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.

Responsibilities

• Sort and segregate recoverable materials from incoming waste.
• Deposit recoverable material into appropriate chute.
• Assist other sorters with heavy items as needed.
• Coordinate with equipment operators on special loads.
• Increase production by reducing downtime and training staff.
• Ensure safety rules are followed on the sort line; stop conveyors in emergencies.
• Inspect and clear jams on the sort line.
• Clean sorting equipment daily and perform light maintenance.
