Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage's Parks & Recreation department seeks a supervisor to plan, coordinate, organize, supervise, and evaluate the work of recreation staff delivering programs to Anchorage residents.

Responsibilities include overseeing ACA accreditation, managing multiple sites, and developing and evaluating a wide array of programs; position involves full supervisory responsibilities across professional, support, part-time and seasonal staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with five (5) years of recreation experience.
• Associate’s degree in Recreation or related discipline with three (3) years of recreation experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or related discipline with one (1) year of recreation experience.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, plans, coordinates, organizes, supervises, and evaluates the work of recreation staff providing a wide variety of recreational programs and activities to Anchorage residents at assigned recreation facilities and satellites.
• Oversees and manages the accreditation process of the American Camping Association.
• Incumbents supervise professional, support, part-time and seasonal staff and develop, implement, and evaluate a wide array of recreation programs to meet residents’ needs.
