Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage is seeking a Lead Recreation Specialist to supervise entry-level staff and deliver parks and recreation activities in Anchorage. You will lead participants, organize activities, and maintain facilities and grounds per department policies.

Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service in person, by phone, and via email; scheduling reservations and coordinating facility training and activities; and maintaining the reservations database.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• and one year experience in the program or activity under consideration; prior experience in use of recreational equipment is required.
• American Red Cross First Aid Certification, CPR or equivalent within 30 days of hire.
• A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with acceptable driving record at time of hire.
• Satisfactory completion of a national criminal background investigation at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead entry-level staff delivering parks and recreation activities.
• Provide safe recreational and learning environments with independence and initiative.
• Provide excellent customer service in-person, via phone and via email; schedule and provide routine information concerning reservations.
• Coordinate and maintain database for reservations of facilities, training, and activities; perform duties as assigned.
