Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Exchange team in the Institutional product group. You will build and operate real-time trading systems, including matching engines, order management, market data, and funding rate computation.

This role centers on performance-critical backend work and end-to-end reliability for high-volume institutional trading. You will write tight code in Java, C++, or Go, drive architecture decisions, and collaborate with Product and leadership to deliver

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building production trading/infrastructure at scale.
• Proficiency in a backend language (Java, C++, Go) and performance tuning knowledge.
• Experience designing and operating reliable distributed systems handling high volumes.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate low-latency, event-sourced trading systems across cloud and colocated environments.
• Ensure reliability and correctness of production systems processing high-throughput data 24/7.
• Collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, and leadership to deliver quarterly milestones.
• Drive technical design decisions and align with peers and tech leads.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code in a scalable backend environment (Java/C++/Go).
