Job summary

EDF power solutions North America is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel - Real Estate to lead real estate due diligence for major solar, storage and wind projects, advise on land acquisitions and dispositions, and shape project financing strategies.

You will draft and negotiate leases, easements, purchase agreements, options, and title curative documents, supervise external counsel, and ensure compliance across jurisdictions while mentoring junior lawyers.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to one or more U.S. state bars, with a strong preference for Texas or California.
• Typically, 10 years of dedicated real estate legal experience within a law firm or in-house.
• Prior experience in the renewable energy sector is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manages the legal aspects of project development, focusing on land leases and real estate due diligence for acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and M&A transactions.
• Drafts and negotiates real estate and project-related agreements, including land control agreements, easements, purchase agreements, options, and title curative documents for solar, storage and wind assets.
• Advises on legal matters related to project development, operations, maintenance, and asset optimization.
