Job summary

GHJ is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee accounting and financial reporting for a diverse portfolio of commercial real estate, operating businesses, and investment entities. You will report to the CFO, lead a team, and manage full-cycle accounting, intercompany activity, and cash flow across multiple entities.

This hands-on role emphasizes strengthening controls, enhancing reporting efficiencies, and partnering with executive leadership on strategic financial decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with supervision/management.
• Commercial real estate accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions.
• Knowledge of GAAP; strong month-end close and reporting skills.
• Hands-on payroll, cash management, and treasury experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle accounting including general ledger and month-end close.
• Prepare and review financial statements across multiple entities.
• Manage intercompany accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee real estate accounting: CAM, property taxes, capex.
• Manage AP/AR, payroll, and operating company accounting.
• Monitor cash flow, banking, debt and liquidity; support budgeting and analytics.
• Coordinate audits, tax, lender and ownership reporting requirements.
• Supervise accounting staff and drive process improvements.
