Job summary

GHJ is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing accounting team. You will own the full accounting cycle for multiple real estate and operating entities, working directly with the Controller and CFO, including budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow, and process improvements.

Ideal candidate has 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong GL and month-end close skills, and proficiency with Excel and ERP systems like QuickBooks or Yardi.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong GL accounting, reporting and month-end close experience.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting preferred.
• Real estate accounting experience is highly desirable.
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP).
• Experience with QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Yardi or similar ERP.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Own the full accounting cycle for multiple entities.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and monthly statements.
• Lead month-, quarter-, and year-end close activities.
• Analyze balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Perform intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
• Support property accounting including lease activity and CAM reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash activity, and vendors.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.
• Prepare schedules for audits, tax filings, lenders, and external CPAs.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.
