Job summary

Radiant, an El Segundo, CA-based startup, seeks a Senior Reactor Engineer to lead testing and verification of core components and subsystems within the Kaleidos microreactor. You will work closely with nuclear, mechanical, thermal, controls, and test engineering teams to ensure hardware meets safety, performance, and design requirements.

This hands-on role covers requirements definition, planning, execution, data analysis, and technical reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nuclear or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
• 5+ years of reactor engineering, hardware testing, or complex hardware development.
• Experience developing and executing component or subsystem tests with instrumentation.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical systems, heat transfer, materials, and instrumentation.
• Understanding reactor operating principles, safety functions, and performance requirements.
• Experience with procedures, acceptance criteria, and evaluating results against requirements.
• Root cause investigations and design improvement actions.

Responsibilities

• Lead testing and verification of reactor components, mechanisms, and subsystems.
• Own test activities from requirements definition to execution and data analysis.
• Develop test plans, procedures, instrumentation requirements, and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop test strategies and resolve challenges.
• Perform engineering analyses and compare results with predictions.
• Review test procedures, verification reports, and documentation for approval.
• Support reactor operations, commissioning, and integrated testing.
• Investigate hardware failures and implement corrective actions.
• Translate test findings into design improvements with traceability.
