Job summary

Tangent Energy Solutions is seeking a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to design, build and scale Rails applications in the energy data space. You will deploy and operate infrastructure on AWS, collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor junior developers.

This full-time, in-office role reports to the Kennett Square, Pennsylvania office and requires a strong background in Rails 7+, automated testing, and DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• Expert-level knowledge of the Rails framework (version 7+) and its core libraries.
• Strong command of automated testing strategies and tools (RSpec, Capybara, etc.).
• Experience with and commitment to automated testing for both front- and back-end functionality.
• Proficiency using git and experience with GitHub Enterprise and GitHub actions.
• Applied understanding of agentic development and experience managing and reviewing the work of AI-assisted developers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Ruby on Rails applications in the energy space.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define, plan, and deliver new features.
• Design and implement ML-ready data pipelines.
• Participate in architecture of new systems and applications.
• Ensure code quality by writing tests and conducting code reviews.
• Assist in shared DevOps duties including infrastructure management and code deployment.
• Refactor core components to reduce technical debt and improve efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
• Use AI coding tools to analyze, specify, and implement complex new software features.
• Develop AI skills and tools to improve development processes and document code.
