Job summary

Mon Ami is seeking a Senior Engineer to design, build, test, and maintain the core software used by public-agency customers. You will own a defined area of the codebase and mentor 1–3 junior engineers while collaborating with product managers to deliver features that matter.

The stack is Ruby on Rails, Bootstrap, Stimulus, and Postgres. You will write and review code, design data models, and ensure quality through testing, with opportunities to apply AI tools to accelerate development.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of experience as a mid-level engineer at a fast-growing tech company.
• Solid working experience with Ruby on Rails, Stimulus, JavaScript, Bootstrap, CSS3, Hotwire/Turbo, RSpec, ViewComponent, SQL/Postgres, Git, and SQL reporting tools.
• Track record of thoughtful refactoring, careful data design, and disciplined testing.
• Creative problem-solver with experience evaluating third-party software and APIs to accelerate delivery.
• Strong hands-on experience with Claude Code, Codex, or similar—and understanding when each model earns its keep.

Responsibilities

• Take high command of a defined area of the codebase, shipping production-grade Rails features end to end.
• Develop and mentor a team of 1-3 junior engineers, partnering with product managers to complete projects.
• Operate in a small, scrappy team to hit goals with initiative and resourcefulness.
• Apply refactoring, data design, and disciplined testing to keep the codebase healthy as it grows.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to augment development practices.
