Job summary

Hatch is seeking a Senior Rail Systems Signal and Train Control Engineer in Pittsburgh. The role focuses on designing and testing railroad signal systems, including CBTC/PTC and interlocking logic, with extensive field experience and client collaboration.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, 10+ years of relevant experience, and strong project management skills. The position emphasizes safety, quality, and cross-functional teamwork in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years of relevant experience including design, installation, signal system testing, and operation and maintenance of railroad and/or rail transit signal systems.
• Project Management experience and Professional Engineer license a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs for grade crossing warning systems per state and federal regulations.
• Prepare designs for signal system logic including microprocessor and relay-based systems.
• Lead development of signal system block designs based on train performance criteria.
• Prepare signal system drawings (Route and Aspect, Track and Signal, Detailed Circuits).
• Develop material and construction specifications and quantity estimates.
• Perform field inspections, reporting, and signal testing assistance.
• Collaborate with clients to incorporate signal requirements into contract documents.
