Job summary

STV is seeking an experienced Rail Vehicle Electrical Engineer with propulsion expertise to join the Rail Vehicle Engineering group. You will prepare propulsion specifications, evaluate carbuilder designs for transit agencies, and review drawings and test reports from multiple manufacturers.

You will report to the Chief of Propulsion Engineering and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Travel up to 25% (including international) may be required, with a salary range reflecting a senior

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of propulsion experience in transit/rail
• ABET-accredited four-year B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Familiarity with propulsion components: AC traction motors, power converters, transformers and HV equipment
• Experience with auxiliary power converters is a plus
• EIT or PE license preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication in English

Responsibilities

• Prepare propulsion equipment performance design criteria and specs
• Prepare and review test specifications and reports
• Witness testing and First Article Inspections
• Evaluate carbuilder and propulsion supplier design packages
• Assist with technical and cost proposals for new work
• Assist with change orders for existing work
• Interface with rail clients and internal STV teams
