Job summary

The Chicago Transit Authority is seeking a Manager, Transportation - Rail to oversee rail operations staff at route and terminal levels. You will plan, supervise, and coordinate actions to deliver the highest quality safe, on-time, clean and friendly transit service, addressing weather events, emergencies, and daily challenges.

Responsibilities include mentoring employees, managing union relations, investigating incidents, communicating service changes and alternate routes, and ensuring staffing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 3+ years in fleet/transport and 2+ years supervisory experience.
• Experience in transit operations and multi-union environments; valid Illinois driver’s license.
• Rail operations familiarity program within six months; maintain Rail Safety certification.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and supervise staff; manage work assignments and performance.
• Ensure safe, on-time, clean, and courteous rail service; address incidents.
• Communicate with unions and management; handle grievances and investigations.
• Respond to customer service issues and coordinate service in emergencies.
• Hire, train, develop, and evaluate staff.
