Job summary

Metra in Chicago is seeking a Project Manager 2 to lead mid to large-scale commuter rail projects, including stations and civil infrastructure. You will manage budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and coordination with internal staff and consultants to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Construction or Project Management and at least four years of engineering or project management experience, plus strong communication and contract administration skills.

Qualifications

  • Four years of engineering or project management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure project management principles.
  • Experience with public works construction contracts.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to travel within Metra's 6-county region.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare project budgets and cost estimates.
  • Oversee scope of work, staffing plans, and schedules.
  • Review plans and designs for efficiency and constructability.
  • Manage contract administration including bids, changes, and payments.
  • Identify and manage project risks and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships and project files.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
