Job summary

STV is seeking a Civil Engineer with trackwork experience to join our Transit Group in Maryland. You will lead track and civil design for railway projects, coordinate with clients and internal teams, and mentor junior staff on a range of MTA and rail initiatives.

The role requires a PE license, 7+ years in railway engineering, and proficiency with MicroStation, InRail, OpenRail, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D. STV offers strong benefits and growth in a multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive railway engineering experience.
• Experience with rail and civil design tools such as MicroStation, InRail, OpenRail, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.
• Working knowledge of railway standards (AREMA, CPUC, AAR, FRA).
• Strong problem-solving abilities and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Clear written and verbal communication across clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform owners representative duties and oversee design efforts to deliver projects.
• Partner with clients and stakeholders to define scope, objectives and delivery strategies.
• Lead track and civil design for railway infrastructure including tracks, stations, bridges, and tunnels.
• Provide technical guidance to meet safety and regulatory standards.
• Anticipate challenges and develop mitigation to meet schedule and budget.
• Support construction by reviewing RFIs, shop drawings, and submittals.
• Apply QA/QC procedures to deliver coordinated work products.
• Monitor progress and opportunities to improve delivery efficiency.
• Communicate updates and action items with clients, agencies, and teams.
