Job summary

Stantec seeks a Railway Engineer to support planning and design for transit, freight, and passenger rail projects in the Laurel, MD area. You will work with our Transit and Rail team to deliver designs from concept to issued-for-bid packages, under mentorship from senior engineers.

The role requires a PE license, 5+ years of railway experience, and proficiency with MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRail, and AREMA standards. Collaboration across disciplines and client-facing duties are expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
Minimum 5 years of railway engineering and design experience.
Professional Engineer license required; multi-state licensure advantageous.
Proficient with MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRail, AREMA, and design standards.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering design tasks under supervision, including drawings and reports.
Develop designs from concept through issued-for-bid packages.
Prepare site plans, grading, profiles, and details.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to manage scope and schedule.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and agencies on designs.
