Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Structural (Rail Bridge) Project Engineer / Inspector to join our Bloomfield, NJ office and lead the delivery of transit and freight rail bridge projects.

You will perform design and inspection tasks for simple to complex steel and concrete bridges, supervise inspection teams, coordinate with agencies and clients, and mentor junior staff while advancing challenging projects.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering; PE license required.
• 8+ years of railroad engineering experience (inspection and design).
• Familiarity with AREMA Manual for Railway Engineering.
• Experience with NJ Transit, MTA, LIRR, Metro North, Amtrak and freight railroads.
• Proficiency with MS Office and CADD (MicroStation preferred).
• Willingness to travel within New Jersey/NYC region and perform field work.

Responsibilities

• Applies broad knowledge of structural and railroad engineering principles to support design and inspections teams.
• Coordinate with agencies, vendors and other parties to furnish equipment, schedule track outages and flagging.
• Supervise and mentor inspection team members.
• Perform structural analysis, design and load rating calculations using engineering software.
• Perform bridge inspections utilizing data collection equipment and deliver reports.
• Assist in monitoring project budgets and schedules; support proposals with schedules and scopes.
