Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Structural (Rail Bridge) Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Bloomfield, NJ office and work as part of our growing Transit and Freight Rail Practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic student to gain hands-on experience with a team of professionals on rail projects.

Responsibilities include assisting with structural analysis and design for bridges, developing plans and cost estimates, and performing field inspections under qualified inspectors.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a BS in Civil Engineering (with emphasis in Structural Engineering or Rail Engineering) is required.
• Previous internship experience preferred.
• Experience using MS Office software and CADD (MicroStation or AutoCAD) preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Desire to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team of engineers on transit and freight rail projects.
• Assist in structural analysis and design for simple and complex bridges and ancillary structures, as well as the development of structural plans and construction cost estimates and be exposed to construction support services.
• Perform field inspection of bridges under qualified inspectors and assist on load rating calculations of such bridges.
