Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Structural (Rail Bridge) Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Bloomfield, NJ office and work as part of our growing Transit and Freight Rail Practice. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on project experience and develop technical skills in a dynamic team.

You'll assist with structural analysis and design for bridges, prepare construction cost estimates, and support field inspections under qualified supervisors.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural or Rail Engineering.
• Previous internship experience preferred.
• Experience using MS Office and CADD (MicroStation or AutoCAD) preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Desire to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team of engineers on transit and freight rail projects.
• Assist in structural analysis and design for bridges and ancillary structures, and develop construction cost estimates.
• Perform field inspection of bridges under qualified inspectors and assist on load rating calculations.
