Job summary

Dewberry is seeking an Entry Level Structural (Rail Bridge) Engineer / Inspector for the Bloomfield, NJ office to join our Transit and Freight Rail Practice. The position involves designing and inspecting steel and concrete rail bridges and related transportation structures, with involvement in contract plans, estimates, and construction specifications.

You will collaborate with a team of engineers, perform field inspections, and gain exposure to marketing and business development activities.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering required; MS/MEng preferred.
• 0–4 years of structural, rail or civil engineering experience.
• FE exam is preferred.
• Internship or summer work experience encouraged.
• Familiarity with AREMA preferred.
• Ability to travel locally and regionally.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis, design, load ratings, and construction support.
• Design rail bridges and related structures per AREMA standards.
• Prepare structural plans and project estimates.
• Conduct field investigations with qualified inspectors.
