Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a Radiological Controls Trainer to oversee radiological training programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and assess trainee readiness. The role focuses on developing practical training evolutions, coordinating examinations, and maintaining training documentation.

Ideal candidates will have RC/ SRCT qualifications, proficiency with MS Office, and experience with training databases such as Success Factors Learning and ARCMIS.

Qualifications

• Lab RC 0288 Article 108 Radiological Controls Technician (RCT) or Supervisory Radiological Controls Technician (SRCT)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with training and database systems such as Success Factors Learning and ARCMIS
• High school diploma or equivalent with combinations of RCTQS qualification and years of relevant experience
• Associates or Bachelors degree with RCTQS qualification and related experience (as listed in the required combinations)

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and maintain training evolutions and casualty response scenarios for radiological hazards
• Maintain control of training documents (TWDs)
• Coordinate written exams, practical evaluations, and scheduling
• Facilitate coordination between program areas for training requirements
• Coordinate drills with facilities for radiological event preparedness
• Oversee maintenance and readiness of training area supplies and equipment
• Support QM lead trainer
• Coordinate logistics, documentation, and resource allocation for training programs and assessments

Job Description

The Radiological Controls Trainer is responsible for administering and overseeing all radiological training activities to ensure personnel are qualified to perform work safely and in full compliance with applicable local and Federal requirements. This position ensures that all training programs adhere to relevant regulations, evaluates the effectiveness of training organizations, and assesses trainee performance to confirm readiness and competency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and maintain practical training evolutions and casualty response scenarios related to radiological hazards
• Maintain sufficient variance and control of approved training Technical Work Documents (TWDs)
• Coordinate written examinations, practical evaluations, and associated scheduling
• Facilitate effective coordination between program areas to support integrated training requirements
• Coordinate drills with facilities to ensure organizational preparedness for radiological events
• Oversee the maintenance and readiness of training area supplies, materials, and equipment
• Support Qualified Monitor (QM) lead trainer
• Coordinate logistics, documentation, and resource allocation for training programs and practical assessments

Required / Evaluated Qualifications

• Qualification as LAB RC 0288 Article 108 Radiological Controls Technician (RCT) or Supervisory Radiological Controls Technician (SRCT)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with training and database systems such as Success Factors Learning and ARCMIS

Required Combination Of Knowledge And Skill

High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 13 years and RCTQS qualified; or High school diploma or equivalent and RCTQS qualified and certification with the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT) and a minimum of 11 years of relevant experience; or High school diploma or equivalent and qualification as a Naval Nuclear Propulsion Operator (or commercial nuclear equivalent) and RCTQS qualified and a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience; or High school diploma or equivalent and qualification as a Naval Nuclear Propulsion Operator (or commercial nuclear equivalent) and RCTQS qualified and certification with the NRRPT and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Associates degree from an accredited college or university and RCTQS qualified and a minimum of 11 years of relevant experience; or Associates degree from an accredited college or university and RCTQS qualified and certification with the NRRPT and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and RCTQS qualified and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and RCTQS qualified and certification with the NRRPT and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.

Pay Range

$105,200.00 - $164,400.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
