Job summary

HII Mission Technologies’ Radiological Controls Engineering group in Newport News is seeking a nuclear engineer for a direct support role. Will design, test, and evaluate nuclear equipment and materials, supporting radiation health and safety programs for Navy aircraft carriers and submarines.

Requires a BS in Nuclear Engineering (ABET-accredited), U.S. citizenship, and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited undergraduate program in Nuclear Engineering or related field.
• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Proficiency in standard PC software (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).
• No prior experience required beyond degree (0 years).

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and tests nuclear equipment and systems.
• Conducts research on materials of interest in nuclear reactors.
• Study radiation control and waste disposal concepts.
• Assist in radiation health and safety analyses and modeling.
• Support three main groups: Reactor Servicing; Overhaul Maintenance; Fleet Support.
