Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Radiation Effects Engineer to lead radiation hardness assurance for LEO and beyond. The role involves environment analysis, testing, risk management, and product road-mapping across hardware, software, and firmware domains.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in space hardware, experience with radiation environments, and strong communication skills to interact with customers and leadership, with opportunities to mentor the radiation effects team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or similar.
• Minimum 5 years of space product experience.
• Direct experience with radiation effects for space hardware.
• Experience with automotive/high-volume parts in radiation environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own radiation hardness assurance plan for LEO and beyond.
• Simulate radiation environments for various orbits (OMERE).
• Plan and conduct radiation tests on components and products.
• Predict upset rates by environmental simulations and test data.
• Advise hardware and software/firmware teams on radiation tolerance practices.
• Participate in design reviews to ensure radiation reliability.
• Support customer interactions and bid/proposal efforts.
