Job summary

Job Summary: The Undersea and Electronics Systems (UES) Department in Portsmouth, RI is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with strong COTS computing and networking background to join our Hardware and Infrastructure team implementing the next generation RADAR solutions. The desired candidate has a current Secret clearance, is highly technical, and able to work with minimal oversight as well as the ability to manage projects. This individual will act as a key liaison between cross-functional teams, ensuring technical solutions are delivered on time, within scope and meet quality standards.

What You Will Do
  • Design COTS hardware infrastructure systems (e.g. X86-based processors)
  • Research and selection of servers, workstations, add-in interface cards, storage devices, and other COTS hardware
  • Engineer BIOS and operating system configuration definitions
  • Work in a lab environment and operate standard test equipment including oscilloscopes, processor bus analyzers, emulators, and data capture tools, etc.
  • System prototyping and integration in the lab
  • Collaborate in development with hardware engineering disciplines, supply chain, suppliers, field engineering, on-site installation and trades, and Customers to develop and deliver safety critical systems
  • Support occasional domestic travel and potential international travel
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant or
  • An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Experience with emerging and legacy hardware and software, including Unix and Linux operating systems
  • Experience working in a lab environment and operating standard test equipment including oscilloscopes, processor bus analyzers, emulators, and data capture tools, etc.
  • Experience with taking a system design concept from the block diagram or requirements level and developing a complete COTS-based hardware design and then verifying the design via integration and test plans and activities
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience developing and implementing computing, networking, and information technology infrastructure through a rigorous design and documentation process
  • Experience collaborating in development with hardware engineering disciplines, supply chain, suppliers, field engineering, on-site installation and trades, and Customers to develop and deliver safety critical systems
  • Current or in-progress computing/networking certification(s) (e.g. CCNA, AWS, CISSP)
  • Experience with RADAR system hardware
  • Experience with Firewall design and configuration
  • Experience implementing Security Technical Implementation guides and network hardening
  • Experience with system level hardware integration and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in agile hardware and software development and management using SCRUM.
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

Relocation Offered Based On Eligibility.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
