Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced engineer to design COTS hardware infrastructure for safety‑critical systems in a fully onsite role in MA. You will select and configure servers, storage, and interfaces, while developing BIOS and OS definitions and collaborating across engineering, supply chain, and field teams.

The role requires a BS in EE with 8+ years in hardware design, Linux experience, and willingness to travel. A DoD clearance is required or in progress, with relocation assistance offered.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in relevant domains.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Experience designing and documenting computing/networking infrastructure.
  • Ability to take a system concept to a complete COTS hardware design and verify with tests.
  • Experience with lab environments and standard test equipment.
  • Masters degree or higher preferred.
  • Active DoD security clearance or ability to obtain.

What You Will Do
  • Design COTS hardware infrastructure systems (e.g. X86-based processors)
  • Research and selection of servers, workstations, add-in interface cards, storage devices, and other COTS hardware
  • Engineer BIOS and operating system configuration definitions
  • Work in a lab environment and operating standard test equipment including oscilloscopes, processor bus analyzers, emulators, and data capture tools, etc.
  • Collaborate in development with hardware engineering disciplines, supply chain, suppliers, field engineering, on-site installation and trades, and Customers to develop and deliver safety critical systems
  • Support occasional domestic travel and potential international travel

This position is 100% Onsite in Tewksbury or Marlborough, MA

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the following areas (an advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for two additional years of experience)
  • Experience with emerging and legacy hardware and software, including Unix and Linux operating systems
  • Experience developing and implementing computing, networking, and information technology infrastructure through a rigorous design and documentation process
  • Experience with taking a system design concept from the block diagram or requirements level and developing a complete COTS-based hardware design and then verifying the design via integration and test plans and activities
  • Experience working in a lab environment and operating standard test equipment including oscilloscopes, processor bus analyzers, emulators, and data capture tools, etc.
  • Experience collaborating in development with hardware engineering disciplines, supply chain, suppliers, field engineering, on-site installation and trades, and Customers to develop and deliver safety critical systems
  • Masters degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline (We Prefer)
  • Current or in-progress computing/networking certification(s) (e.g. CCNA, AWS, CISSP)
  • Experience with RADAR system hardware
  • Experience with Firewall design and configuration
  • Experience implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides, network hardening, system level hardware integration and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with managing to a schedule and budget
  • Active DoD security Clearance

This position is eligible for relocation.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
