Job summary

EVONA in Seattle, WA, is seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer to lead RTL design and FPGA development for advanced radar systems. You will translate radar algorithms into robust firmware while collaborating across hardware, software, mechanical, and signal-processing teams.

The role demands 8+ years in embedded firmware and strong Verilog/VHDL skills. Expect ownership of complex projects, architecture decisions, and on-site collaboration in a lean startup environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years embedded firmware development experience, ideally in radar or mission-critical systems.
• Strong RTL design experience using Verilog and/or VHDL, including satellite/aerospace work.

Responsibilities

• Define firmware requirements with a multidisciplinary team.
• Architect, design, and implement embedded firmware for radar sensor payloads.
• Develop control and signal-processing functions in Verilog or VHDL.
• Evaluate complexity, memory, and DSP resource needs for FPGA implementations.
• Produce trade studies to support architecture decisions.
• Integrate RTL designs onto FPGA/SoC with synthesis, P&R, timing closure.
• Lead bring-up, verification, and validation on prototype/flight hardware.
• Collaborate with radar, electrical, software, and mechanical engineers.
• Support recruitment and hiring of additional engineers.
