Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories' Nuclear Enterprise Assurance team seeks a multidisciplinary R&D Systems Security Engineer to lead the secure product realization lifecycle for high‑consequence national security systems.

You will apply NIST SP 800-160 v1r1 and Nuclear Enterprise Assurance practices to integrate security across the product lifecycle and collaborate with Systems Engineers, Cybersecurity, and Counterintelligence to assess and mitigate subversion risks.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Active DOE Q‑Level security clearance to start or equivalent.
• Experience with risk assessment, systems security engineering, and threat modeling.

Responsibilities

• Develop, tailor, and implement Systems Security Engineering processes informed by NIST SP 800-160 v1r1; define security objectives across lifecycle.
• Lead or coordinate subversion risk assessments, including threat modeling, vulnerability analyses, and supply chain risk.
• Identify, document, and weave subversion risks using technical, CI, open-source, and manufacturing data for risk management.
• Define, decompose, and flow security requirements into hardware, firmware, software, test, and production architectures; create verification methods and acceptance criteria.
• Develop, review, and maintain security assurance documentation and evidence packages demonstrating requirement satisfaction and risk mitigation.
• Present concise security assessments to customers, management, and senior stakeholders.
