Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM seeks a highly skilled R&D Systems Engineer to lead the Stockpile Tech Basis team on the W76-1 compatibility study. You will drive multidisciplinary systems engineering, rigorous analysis, and collaboration across partners to support the nation’s nuclear deterrent.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree with five years of relevant experience and an active DOE Q clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and five years of directly relevant experience or equivalent.
• Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent to start, with ability to participate in random polygraph testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead interdisciplinary teams to solve high-visibility, complex technical challenges.
• Initiate and lead detailed technical studies to deepen understanding of system performance.
• Apply systems engineering principles and trade studies to evaluate alternatives and identify solutions.
• Collaborate with NSE labs and partners (NNSA, DOD, LLNL, KCNSC, KCNSC/NMO) on design, testing strategies, and test planning.
