Job summary

Henkel in Minnesota is seeking an R&D chemist to lead lab operations, advance polymer-based adhesive technologies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new products.

The role requires a degree in Chemical Engineering or Materials Science and 1+ years in R&D, with knowledge of adhesives, rheology, and product development processes. Onsite work supports manufacturing and quality alignment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields.
  • 1+ years of work experience in research and development.
  • Knowledge of polymer science including polymer chemistry, structure–property relationships, rheology, bulk and adhesive mechanics.
  • Technical expert in adhesive chemistries, composite materials, polymer network physics, filled suspensions, and/or resin cure chemistry.
  • Familiarity with product development processes such as stage gate reviews and project initiation.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, LabVIEW, AutoCAD or solid drawing programs and other technical software.

Responsibilities

  • Manages lab functions including inventory, purchasing consumables, and onboarding raw materials.
  • Identifies and develops new approaches, solutions, processes, products, and methods within an agreed timeframe.
  • Ensures compliance with Henkel SHE standards and manages the lab and innovation process.
  • Provides technical support to Manufacturing and Quality as required.
  • Executes process developments to support cross-functional teams for new technology products.
  • Provides guidance on patents, trademarks and proprietary agreements.
  • Approves technical readiness of raw materials and products as well as first production and quality specs.
  • Tests or supervises tests on product stability and performance.
  • This role is fully onsite.
