Job summary

Syms Strategic Group is seeking a seasoned Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer for a 100% US-based remote role. You will lead efforts on quantum risk assessment, PQC migrations, and cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST standards, supporting a federal government client.

You will apply expertise in quantum algorithms, cryptography, and related programming frameworks, with substantial experience and a security clearance posture.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience with 5+ years in quantum computing and cryptography at a large corporation or government agency; master's may substitute for up to 2 years
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, quantum algorithms (Shor's, Grover's), and quantum information theory
• Expertise in quantum programming languages and frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, Quipper, MS Quantum Development Kit)
• Expertise in post-quantum cryptography and quantum-resistant algorithms
• Expertise in cryptographic standards and frameworks (NIST, ISO/IEC 19790)
• Experience with classical and quantum simulation tools
• Project management experience in a large organization or government agency; understand configuration management
• Occasional travel may be required
• U.S. Citizenship required for this position

Responsibilities

• Utilize Python, C++, and Java to implement and test cryptographic algorithms
• Advise on migration plans for quantum-resistant algorithms and PQC implementation
• Assess cryptographic inventory and identify migration priorities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership
• Provide policy inputs for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards (FIPS 203–205)
