Job summary

Mathematica is hiring researchers with expertise in quantitative research and causal inference for state and local health policy work. You will conduct studies and support evaluations in public health, rural health and healthcare.

Responsibilities include collaborating with senior staff, presenting findings to policymakers and stakeholders, and helping develop proposals while growing team expertise. Base salaries reflect market ranges with discretionary bonus opportunities.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent in relevant disciplines; Masters with causal inference coursework considered equivalent.
• 5+ years of full-time professional experience with leadership.
• Strong quantitative and causal inference training.
• Broad understanding of state health policy and programs.
• Experience with health data sources and public health data.
• Proficiency in R, Python, STATA and AI tools; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior staff to apply quantitative methods including study design and causal inference.
• Draft reports, memos, dashboards and policy briefs for diverse audiences.
• Develop proposals for new research projects.
• Contribute to growth and knowledge within the research team.
