Commence, headquartered in Virginia Beach and open to remote candidates nationwide, seeks a Senior Quantitative Researcher for CMS/CMMI implementation and evaluation. You will translate policy goals into operational data methodologies, lead ML‑based research, and deliver rigorous analyses across federal health programs.

The role involves collaborating with economists, data scientists, and engineers to drive value‑based care initiatives and develop compelling evaluation reports for CMS/CMMI teams.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s with relevant health policy/economics focus and 4+ years of experience.
• Hands‑on CMS/CMMI APM implementation/evaluation experience preferred.
• Experience with healthcare data (claims, enrollment) and policy goals.
• Clear federal audience writing and proposal experience.

Responsibilities

• Translate model design and policy goals into operational methodologies using Medicare/Medicaid data and other sources.
• Design and execute CMS/CMMI APM implementation and evaluation tasks.
• Lead evaluations with quasi-experimental designs to estimate impact on healthcare spending and quality.
• Collaborate with economists, data scientists, and engineers on ML‑based methods on the Commence platform.
• Develop methodology documents, evaluation reports, and client briefings for model teams.
• Mentor junior researchers and analysts; manage teams and client communications.
