Job summary

EssilorLuxottica Lake Forest, CA, is seeking a Sr. Engineer, Quality (Reliability & Test) to lead reliability engineering, product qualification, and performance testing for eyewear, snow goggles, visors, and military/tactical eyewear.

You will develop test methods, validate protocols, interpret standards, mentor technicians, and partner with Quality, R&D, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to ensure release readiness and sustained product reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science with 5+ years in reliability engineering or testing.
• Experience validating test methods, qualification protocols, and validation plans.
• Experience testing eyewear, PPE, or regulated consumer products is preferred.
• Proficiency interpreting standards and writing clear test requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead product qualification and validation testing for eyewear and related products.
• Develop and execute reliability, qualification, functional, optical, and environmental tests.
• Create, validate, and maintain lab test methods and protocols.
• Translate specifications into test requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Design and implement test equipment and instrumentation for testing.
• Support regulatory, military, and industry-standard testing efforts.
• Lead root-cause analysis and verify corrective actions.
• Review test reports and present conclusions on performance and release readiness.
• Provide technical leadership to improve reliability and durability.
• Train and mentor laboratory technicians in test methods and GLP practices.
• Collaborate with Quality, Product Development, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and external labs.
