Job summary

Oakley, part of EssilorLuxottica, is seeking a Sr. Engineer, Quality (Reliability & Test) to lead reliability engineering, product qualification, and performance testing for eyewear and related products in our California operations.

You will translate specifications into test requirements, design test equipment, lead failure investigations, and mentor lab staff while collaborating with Quality, Product Development, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and external labs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science.
• 5+ years in reliability engineering or testing.
• Experience with test methods, qualification protocols, and validation plans.
• Experience with mechanical, optical, environmental, impact testing.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs, and standards.
• Experience with DOE, FMEA, and statistical analysis.
• ISO/IEC 17025 or similar lab experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead product qualification and validation testing for eyewear and related products.
• Develop and execute reliability, qualification, functional, optical, mechanical tests.
• Document and maintain lab test methods and protocols.
• Translate specs into test requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Design and implement test equipment and fixtures.
• Support regulatory and industry-standard testing.
• Lead failure investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Review technical test reports and provide conclusions.
• Provide technical leadership to improve reliability.
• Train and mentor laboratory technicians.
• Collaborate with Quality, Product Development, R&D, Regulatory/Compliance, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and external labs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
