Job summary

3M is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team in Minnesota. The role focuses on driving quality tools in new product introduction, ensuring customer needs are met, and defining robust specifications for manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality disciplines, ISO 9001/IATF16949, and project leadership. On-site work is required with travel possibilities, and relocation support may be considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start).
• Minimum 3 years experience in a quality or manufacturing setting in a private, public, government or military environment.
• Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Advanced expertise across multiple quality disciplines, such as QA, product quality control, incoming inspection, Six Sigma, ISO standards, and warranty analysis.
• Experience administering and maintaining ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
• Strong project management capabilities with a track record of leading cross‑functional initiatives.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage senior leadership, peers, teams, customers, and regulatory stakeholders.
• Proficiency with corporate systems and digital tools used in Quality functions, plus strong English communication skills.
• Experience with Statistical Process Control and advanced analytical methods.

Responsibilities

• Drive quality tools in NPI to accelerate projects while mitigating risk by ensuring customer needs are met and specs are well defined.
• Assure compliance with external regulations, customer requirements, internal requirements, and industry standards (ISO9001, IATF16949 or other).
• Analyze information using statistical techniques to drive data‑driven decisions as a SME in statistics.
• Promote continuous improvement and defect reduction through CAPA, kaizen, 8D, FMEA, MSA, PPU, DOE, and Control Plans.
• Review customer product complaints for timely customer feedback and resolution.
• Support existing product evolution and improvement through change management (CMP).
