Job summary

Waymo LLC is seeking a senior Quality Engineer to champion product quality across autonomous sensor development, including cameras, radar, and lidar modules. You will drive DFMEA, PPAP, and ERS compliance, while coordinating with cross-functional teams and contract manufacturers to ensure robust sensor assemblies meet specifications.

The role requires 10+ years in automotive hardware engineering for ADAS, strong data analytics, and expertise in FMEA, SPC, and 8D problem solving.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Optical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering.
10+ years of automotive design/hardware experience for ADAS/autonomous sensors.
Proficiency with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, DOE, and 8D problem solving.
Knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 26262 safety standards.
Experience with data analysis, statistical tools, and quality control systems.
Excellent cross-functional communication to translate issues to leadership and suppliers.

Responsibilities

Champion product quality and DFx/PPAP across sensor development teams.
Ensure ERS compliance and oversee DFMEA, PFMEA, design reviews, DFM/DFA.
Define and validate calibration, alignment, RF performance, and EOL testing parameters.
Lead 8D root-cause investigations and CAPA actions to closure.
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure automotive standards compliance.
Monitor yields, defect rates, Cp/Cpk, and apply SPC/DOE for continuous improvement.
