Job summary

Waymo LLC in Mountain View, CA is seeking a senior hardware quality engineer to lead APQP and PPAP for new vehicle launches, ensuring ERS alignment and lifecycle quality support for hardware and SDS components.

You will collaborate with OEMs and cross-functional teams, perform 8D/5-Why investigations, drive continuous improvements from warranty data and line defects, and establish PFMEAs, control plans, and Safe Launch protocols to ensure a high-quality Waymo vehicle.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
10+ years automotive design engineering experience in vehicle product development.
Proficiency with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, DOE, and 8D problem-solving.
Experience with data analysis, statistical tools, and quality control systems.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Lead APQP and PPAP for new vehicle launches and ensure ERS compliance.
Ensure DFMEA, design reviews, DFM, and DFx meet quality standards.
Collaborate with OEMs and cross-functional teams to verify quality requirements.
Lead root-cause investigations using 8D, 5-Why, and Ishikawa diagrams.
Analyze field warranty data and line defect rates to drive improvements.
Establish initial quality processes, PFMEAs, inspection SOPs, and Safe Launch protocols.
