Job summary

Waymo is seeking a software engineer for its Perception team to advance the Waymo Driver perception stack across diverse driving scenarios. You will work on high-scale automation, sensor emulation, and evaluation frameworks in a hybrid role reporting to a Technical Lead Manager.

Requirements include a BS in CS or related field, 2+ years in industrial AI applications, and strong C++ skills. Preferred MS/PhD and experience with autonomous vehicles (L4) or ADAS.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years experience in industrial AI applications.
• Experience evaluating large ML software systems.
• Strong C++ programming experience.

Responsibilities

• Deeply understand Waymo Driver perception stack across driving conditions.
• Set perception development direction for scaling environments, platforms, sensors.
• Collaborate with world-class teams to influence perception roadmap.
• Architect high-scale automation and evaluation frameworks for safety and reliability.
• Innovate simulation tools for sensor emulation and fault testing.
• Support sign-off process for sensing system development and releases.
